Australian National Busking Championships

We are really excited about the Busking Championships being held in Cooma tomorrow. We've got some great acts lined up with the first act starting at 11:00am through 4:00pm. 

The only problem I can see is getting Pha to cook between 12:30pm and 1:00pm, that's when Vendulka is playing and Pha really loves her singing....

News Update From Pha's Thai Kitchen

Another month has flown by....

The busy winter season is well and truly over and this has given us a chance to catch up on some things we wanted to do around the restaurant, but before getting into that, this months winner of the $50 Gift Voucher draw is Paul Schultz.

Specials Board Up

One of the things we've done lately is put up our specials board and we're excited about offering you some new tasty dishes to try. You can see the specials we've got at the moment on our (the Sticky Rice and Mango is absolutely delicious).

Outdoor Dining Area Almost Ready

Our furniture for the balcony arrived this week and we are just waiting for Monaro Glass to put a strip of perspex around the hand rail area so a stray drink or fork doesn't collect someone below. We're hoping that'll be done by next week and then you'll be able to enjoy dining outside in this nice warm weather.

....and speaking of dining outside, we've decided to open for the Busking Festival on Sunday 4th November (11am - 4:30pm). When I spoke with Alan from Cooma Music last he said that there were over 70 buskers joining in...how cool is that!

We are going to set up a corner on the balcony for the buskers to play, so if you feel like sitting out on the balcony listening to music while having a few drinks and some yummy thai food we'd love to have you. We may even do a Buskers Picking Plate. What a way to spend a Sunday! 

Drinks Menu

We've pretty much got our wine, beer & spirits list worked out now. We have 5 premium whites from First Creek Winery in the Hunter Valley;

Sauv Blanc, Verdelho, Semillon, Chardonnay and Bianco Puro (organic white).

We also have 2 house whites supplied by Kanberra Winery, a Riesling & a Viognier. 

We have 2 reds from First Creek; Cabernet Sauvignon and a Late Harvest Shiraz. House reds from Kanberra Winery are Shiraz & Merlot.

There is also a full range of beer and spirits. 

As of the 1st of November we'll being transitioning into being fully licienced and so we'll no longer be a BYO venue, hopefully we can cater for everyone's needs. We appreciate everyones patience while we were waiting for our liquor license to be approved.

Our next mission on the list of things to do is improve the acoustics of the restaurant. As much as we love how easy it is to keep the polished concrete floor clean, it does mean that when we're busy it can be fairly noisy. We're hoping that acoustic panels on the ceiling will mean that even on a busy night you can easily talk with people at your table.

We are certainly enjoying the process of creating a great space for you to come and enjoy Pha's cooking!

Spring Is In The Air

Hope you're enjoying the spring weather, it feels like winter is nearly over (although I'm sure we'll get a few more cold snaps)...

It was a busy winter season although I'm not sure if that's a very good excuse for missing the voucher draw in August. 

Gift Voucher Winners For August & September

Once again we have drawn 2 winners, 1 for August and 1

for September. We are thrilled that the $50 vouchers went to local regulars once again; Lydia McKeahnie and Tammy Filmer.

Let's see if we can do next months draw on time!

We are excited about picking outdoor settings for the balcony at the moment and we can't wait for the warmer days and nights so that you can enjoy sitting out in the open air enjoying some cold drinks and yummy thai food.

Speaking of yummy thai food, we'll soon have a specials board up and they'll be some great fresh summer dishes on offer. The other exciting news is our liquor license has finally been approved and so we are currently putting together a wine, beer and spirits list. We've already got some really nice wines from First Creek Winery in the Hunter Valley and also have some samples coming from Kanberra Winery which sound really promising.

June/July Gift Voucher Winners

It's hard to believe that it's nearly 4 months since we opened. We are a couple of weeks late on drawing the gift voucher for our newsletter subscribers so we thought we'd do one early and one late.

The winner for June was Jenny Evans and for July Silvana Bogatek. It's great to see the vouchers going to two great local ladies!

On a different topic, as you know, there are lots of travellers coming through town at the moment and we thought it would be helpful for us and for the travellers passing through if you shared your experience about Pha's restaurant.

Easter At Pha's Kitchen

Hope your enjoying your Easter break.

Just a quick email to let you know that Pha's Kitchen will be open for dinner at 5pm on Good Friday and then back to normal hours on Saturday (lunch 11:00am-2:30pm, dinner 5pm-9:30pm).

Pha's ordered extra fish in case people were looking for something different on Good Friday. She has 3 dishes on the menu with fish; Chilli Fish, Steamed Fish and Sweet & Sour Fish.

There are also lots of delicious seafood and vegetarian dishes on the menu too. 

So if you feel like a change on Good Friday feel free to call and order some take-away or drop in for a meal...and remember we're BYO for now.
